  Abstract  
  Inorganic nanocrystals with tailored geometries exhibit unique shape dependent phenomena and subsequent utilization of them for the fabrication of new materials is of significant interest. Metal borates have various functional applications. Zinc borate is an important inorganic hydrated borate that finds applications for various purposes. This paper will review the recent synthesis methods and application of zinc borates, especially emphasis on the applications of thermodynamics and luminescence materials.
