Series of metal thiocyanates self-assembly induced by 5, 8-Diazoniadispiro [4.2.4.2] tetradecane dication

  Abstract  
  Self-assembly of pseudohalogenometalates with DDTD dication (DDTD = 5, 8 -Diazoniadispiro[4.2.4.2] tetradecane) were studied. Seven supramolecular complexes were obtained and characterized by X-ray crystallography, elemental analyses and IR spectroscopy: (DDTD)2[Mn(SCN)6] (1), (DDTD)2[Cd(SCN)6] (2), (DDTD)2[Ni(SCN)6]·H2O (3), (DDTD)[Zn(SCN)4] (4), (DDTD)[Hg(SCN)Br3] (5), (DDTD)2[Ag2(SCN)4Br2] (6) and {(DDTD)[Cu2(SCN)4]}n (7). These compounds contained a variety of inorganic framework from mononuclear inorganic adduct to 2D sheet polymer, due to the different coordinated modes of metal centers with pseudohalogen, which accordingly led to the change of the C-H···N(S, Br, I) interactions in the complexes. Additionally, the C(O)-H···N(S, Br, I, O) intermolecular interactions in the complexes extended the discrete (0D) or low-dimensional (1D) entities into high-dimensional frameworks to stabilize supramolecular architectures. Thermal analyses (TG, DTG and DSA) revealed that the decomposition of the complexes mainly proceeded in two stages with the consecutive endothermic course.
