  Abstract
Two 1D 2,3-pyrazinedicarboxylate coordination polymers, [Cu(pzdc)(H2O)3]n·nH2O (1) and [Cd(Hpzdc)2]n·2nH2O (2) (H2pzdc = 2,3-pyrazinedicarboxylic acid) were synthesized using diffusion method. The (H)pzdc ligands adopt the same coordination mode to fabricate two kinds of different chains: battlement-like chain for 1 and crossing double one for 2. Through the linkage of hydrogen bondings formed among the water molecules and the chains, 3D supramolecular architectures are shaped. 1 and 2 exhibit fluorescent features (emissions at 472 for 1 and 425 nm for 2) which are assigned to LMCT and ππ* intra-ligand transitions respectively.
