Abstract |
|
|
In the present review paper, various issues related to the thermal treatment of oil sludge are discussed. After a brief introduction of the formation and treatment of oil sludge, main treatment methods, i.e. pyrolysis and incineration, are presented. Important aspects during themal prcessing of oil sludge are its pyrolysis and combustion mechanisms. Compared to coals and other wastes; Oil sludge is characterized by very high yields of volatiles and very low fixed carbon which can affect the pyrolysis and combustion process. The pyrolysis and combustion characteristics of oil sludge under different conditions were concerned, the devolatilization processes for oil sludge combustion is thus examined. In a special case, the release and combustion of the volatiles during sludge combustion in fluidized bed combustors is analyzed, and some information concerning the gas compositions of CO, CO2 and O2 alone the combustor height is presented. All emissions including flue gas emission and heavy metals in solid products were also discussed.
