Simultaneous detection of ascorbic acid and uric acid at MWCNT modified electrodes

  Films based on multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) were produced and their response towards simultaneous oxidation of ascorbic acid (AA) and uric acid (UA) was tested. MWCNT exhibit high sensitivity and fast response towards oxidation of AA and UA. Namely, MWCNT decrease the over-potential of AA, resolve the overlapping oxidation peaks of AA and UA into two well-defined peaks, and permit the simultaneous analytical detection of UA and AA. The detection limit of MWCNT towards AA and UA was 0.97 µmol•l-1 and 0.54 µmol•l-1, respectively.
