  Abstract
TiO2-CdS composites were successfully synthesized via microwave-assisted reaction. This method allows a facile, rapid and integration between CdS and TiO2 nanopaticles. The photocatalytic performance of TiO2-CdS composites with different proportions of CdS in degradation of methyl orange under visible light irradiation was investigated. The results show that TiO2-CdS composite with 57.5 wt.% CdS achieves a better performance with a maximum degradation rate of 99.6% as compared to the one prepared using conventional precipitation method due to the increased light absorption and the reduction of carrier recombination.
